Welcome to the EPS Spring 2014 continuing education course wiki

University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate Course
Curriculum & Instruction 630—Workshop in School Program Development
UW-Madison Arboretum Earth Partnership for Schools, Spring 2014

The purpose of this 2-credit course is to provide support for teachers in formal and informal learning settings who have participated in Earth Partnership for Schools (EPS) water stewardship institutes or who are planning on doing so in the future. Funded by the US EPA's Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, it is being offered for credit to teachers in Milwaukee, Chicago, Muskegon, Detroit, and Cleveland. Educators interested in place-based outdoor learning from other sites are also welcome to join the class for webinars only, at a suggested donation amount of $10/webinar (please contact office manager Claire Shaller, cshaller@wisc.edu, if you are interested in the webinar-only offer). Teachers will be energized to provide outdoor learning experiences that connect students with their home environment. In order to accomplish this goal, the course has two components: (1) activities for local teachers to be run independently by EPS partners across the Upper Midwest, and (2) shared learning experiences through webinars that link educators across partner sites. Webinars explore topics such as outdoor learning and school standards, school-community connections, and the EPS indigenous arts and sciences program. Teachers will build community through face-to-face interactions and collaborative online discussions.

(A syllabus for those taking the course for credit, with additional contact information and meeting dates for your site, will be sent to you separately by the EPS coordinator in your area.)

Registration Instructions
For individuals at our 5 partner sites, please open the following document for directions on how to register for the course for credit (note: deadline has been extended). Please make sure to check off the option for 2 credits at the end of the registration process.
